Anna is not amused when her parents tell her she has to go to a different school for her Senior Year – in France.
She doesn't want to leave her best friend, her almost-boyfriend and her little brother.
But she has to move away anyway.

At SOAP she becomes friends with Meredith, Rashmi, Josh and Étienne St.Clair really fast.
Almost as fast as she falls in love with Étienne.
He's smart, caring, beautiful and funny. And he has a serious girlfriend.
The book covers Annas year at SOAP and the development of her friendship and love.

My opinion

This book is a lovely romance story. It's obvious that it's no high literature but sometimes you just need a book who makes you smile.

And it made me smile – a lot. I giggled so much while reading it but it made me feel concerned if necessary. It has just a light touch of sadness, so don't worry.
The humour is wonderful and even though nothing really action-packed happens, there's no moment of boredom.

It's really easy to read, too. I flew through it in 1 ½ days. Who cares about the exams next week? I'll just let this one pass under „learning for my English exam“ - haha!

This book shows how teenage love or a teenage crush really is. It just nails every aspect of it.
Noticing and over-thinking all the details, the akwardness of being so close, the sharp inhaling when your crush touches you – may it ever be so slight.
Before I read the book, I was worried that there might be some kind of insta-love but thank God, I was wrong. Of course, they have a crush on each other right away. Sometimes it's just like that.
You look at someone and only think 'oh, he/she is cute'. But then you start acting awkward whenever your crush is around.
It really helped that Anna and St.Clair were friends. They could start conversations easily and got to know each other really well before really falling for each other. And the tension between Anna and St.Clair was built up perfectly.

It's time to talk about the love interest.
Étienne St.Clair. His name alone is already uber-sexy but together with his character AND his British accent?
Swoon-worthy.
It was really delighting to have a male main character who's not a douche.
Sometimes he was a bit unrealistic and maybe even idealized but if I could have him in reality – holy crap – I wouldn't hesitate a second.
All in all, it's not one of my favourite books but a lovely and cheery read.
Sometimes one just needs a book without deep meaning behind it and if you like romantic books with an appropriate amount of cheesiness, I highly recommend this one to you!

I really can't wait to get hold of 'Lola and the boy next door'. On BookTube they say, it's even better than the Anna and the French kiss!

Rating

4 out of 5 stars

That's it for today! Stay tuned for the next reviews - probably Scarlet and Cress, books 2 and 3 in the Lunar Chronicles series.

See you, guys!
