October Book Haul and Wrap-Up!

Hi there, guys!

Today, I'll show you what I've read and bought over the last 30 days!

BOOK HAUL
The Purity Myth by Jessica Valenti

http://ecx.images-amazon.com/images/I/313lHgEb6CL.jpg

This book is non-fiction and is about society's obsession with virginity, chastity and being pure.
It focuses on Purity Balls, Porn, Sex-Ed and much more.
A few years(?) ago a documentary was even aired on TV.
More about it in my Wrap-Up!

Queen of Shadows by Sarah J.Maas

Finally, on September 1st the fourth book in the Throne of Glass series by Sarah J.Maas was released!
It was one of my most anticipated releases of 2015!
It came in the mail while I was on vacation in Spain and I could not wait to get home and read it!

The Great Gatsby by F.Scott Fitzgerald

I had to buy "The Great Gatsby" for school and unfortunately, we weren't allowed to get this beautiful edition.
We were supposed to purchase one that was revised by a German publishing house and now had dozens of annotations and questions on the text and so on.

Little Women by Louisa M.Alcott

So far I have read nothing but great reviews and when I saw that it was only 3,29€ at my local bookstore, I just coulnd't say no.

I'm really excited to read "Little Women" during autumn!
I can already picture myself sitting on the couch with a really comfy blanket, some tea and cozy socks. I'm so ready for autumn!

Egghead or, You Can't Survive on Ideas Alone

https://www.powerhousearena.com/arena/wp-content/uploads/2013/09/Burnham_EggheadHC.jpg
I've already started reading some of the poems and oh, I really like it.

Bo Burnham seems to be an amazing and extremly bright person!
If you haven't heard of him, check him out on YouTube!

He's hilarious and vulgar and tells you some deep shit without you even realizing.
My favourite songs are "From God's Perspective" and "Repeat Stuff"
And here's a poem, because why not?

Perfect

I love you just the way you are
but you don't see you like I do.
You shouldn't try so hard to be perfect.
Trust me, perfect should try to be you.

On to the:
Wrap-Up
The Princess Bride by William Goldman

I really did expect more.
Some of my favourite reviewers loved the hell out of it but it just didn't do it for me.

3 out of 5 stars

Outlander by Diana Gabaldon

At first I was quite afraid to start reading this hunk of a book, especially because the series consisted out of eight of these giants.
But I really came to love Claire, Scotland and Jamie!

5 out of 5 stars!

The Great Gatsby by F.Scott Fitzgerald

http://www.beautifulbookcovers.com/wp-content/uploads/2013/01/gatsby-original-cover-art.jpg
Well, it's not my favourite book in the world, but it wasn't the worst either.
I just seem to have a problem with classics that weren't written by Jane Austen.
Anyway, I hope I have the time to reread it at some point in the future.

2 out of 5 stars!

Queen of Shadows by Sarah J.Maas

As I've mentioned in my "Book Haul" part, I was really excited for this release. Sadly, it didn't live up to my expectations.
There were some parts I really loved and during which I sat on the edge of my seat.
But there were so many other parts which I really didn't like or felt uncomfortable with.

If you want to know more, check out my review here!

3.5 out of 5 stars!

The Purity Myth by Jessica Valenti

http://ecx.images-amazon.com/images/I/313lHgEb6CL.jpg
It was the first non-fictional books I've read in the course of this book blog!
And it was definitely a great start! Jessica Valenti knows the facts and is hilarious.
I really enjoyed her personal comments and the broad spectrum and sources this book contains!

4 out of 5 stars!

The World of Ice and Fire by George R.R.Martin and others

Finally, after almost nine months, I finished this enourmous book! And it was so informative and entertaining!

I especially loved the chapters on the Targaryen kings (and Queen) and the lands beyond the Narrow Sea.
It holds oh, so much information!

5 out of 5 stars!
